Johnice Parker (1947–2021) Featured Artist, Hollywood Cemetery Restoration Project Johnice Parker was a gifted, lifelong Memphis artist whose creative journey took her from local recognition in her youth to studying art history across Italy, France, and Spain, earning a certificate from the University of Madrid. A graduate of the Memphis Academy of Art, Johnice spent her career boundaries-pushing, working with everything from clay and stone to custom leather, though painting and sketching remained her deepest passions.

During her formative years as a rising artist in Memphis, Johnice captured the soulful essence of local blues royalty, creating a striking portrait drawing of legendary guitarist and blues singer Furry Lewis. In a beautiful moment of connection, Furry permanently personalized the piece, signing his name in his distinct, well-known style.

Following her passing in 2021, Johnice’s historic, dual-signed portrait has been authorized for a special fine art print release. In honor of her legacy and her hometown roots, all proceeds from these prints directly fund MUSE, Inc.’s efforts to clear overgrowth, install security, and restore dignity to Furry Lewis’s resting place at Hollywood Cemetery.
